Kipper Capris- A Free Pattern Review

kipper capri

In our effort to work through a pinterest board of free patterns we are bringing you a review of  the Kipper Capris by Hayley of Welcome to the Mouse House.  This pattern was released a bit back, Hayley provides it in a size 4 which works well for M this summer.

There are even 2 versions.  One with a straight cuff and one with a scalloped cuff.  So of course, I needed to make one of each.

I had 2 yards of these little birds, that I just love.  I have a dress cut and then made these capris and probably have enough left to make something else.  This is a soft cotton that was on sale at Joann’s in the novelty section.

The pattern is simple with an elastic waist and great instructions for creating the scallop cuff.  They are versatile and M wears them sometimes as day wear and sometimes as nightwear. The rise does have a bit of a pj feel to it. That could be the fabric, or the fact that M is more of a 3 than 4.

The second pair is even better because I was able to repurpose a pair of my work pants.  When I retired, I kept my scrub pants and jackets.  They have been washed a gazillion times and are a very soft polyester blend that works perfect for kids clothes.   The cuff is was just a scrap piece that I pulled from my stash.

This pattern is a great 30 minute sew, from cutting to finished product.  Nothing fancy and sometimes that is just what we need.  We are doing well with our goal of sewing one free pattern a month.  How are you doing?

Happy Sewing, Donna

  1. This is so funny as I was looking at my daughter’s OUSM Ruffled PJ’s just the other day and thinking the pants were decidedly “capri” length by now. They look exactly like these!
