Big Boy Duds. The Ethan Shirt

The Ethan, boys dress shirt pattern

Donna sewed up a big boy shirt for O! The Ethan shirt is included in the Sew Fab deal (just a couple more days!) Sewing for boys often gets the short end of the stick, but we were really happy to see lots of options for both kids in the pattern bundle.

This shirt fabric came out of Donna’s stash-no one ask how long she’s had it. It has a nice texture to it, limiting the need to iron or worry about the kid wrinkling it up.

It fits him beautifully. Plenty of room to move around. The kind of comfort a kid needs to reenact full scale dino fights. There are a great number of length options available to achieve the right fit for you guy.

It took a few sewing sessions to complete the shirt, but the end result was well worth it. The options for mixing up colors in the linings, plackets, or cuffs makes this pattern a great staple in your closet. If you’ve never made a shirt like this before the directions are very detailed.

Great work Donna! It looks pro:) And Rachel, great pictures! My boys don’t get as many “modeling” jobs for the blog- but it seems like when they do they really give me good results in a photo shoot. I need to sew for them more!!

I sewed for my youngest boy. He was so far younger than the others I had lots of time to play at the sewing machine. I loved sewing little boy outfits!
