Fall Sewing with EYMM Patterns

EYMM Womens Four Seasons Cardigan

This baby is almost officially down to a single digit week countdown! We’re really excited, though the to-do list is still reaaaaaaaaaally long. Having a early October/late September baby also means it may or may not get cold here while I still have baby on board. Tricky right!

Today I’m sharing some sewing for the Fall that will work for before and after baby. My need to bolster my transition wardrobe came at a great time. I’m also able to show 2 great patterns from EYMM while they celebrate 2 years of patterns. (this post contains affiliate links)

Join EYMM and 24 fellow bloggers as we celebrate the first 24 months of our pattern shop with a huge sale and giveaway!  Featuring 8 different patterns for women and girls, as well as having a huge site-wide sale.  There is also a great giveaway at the bottom of this post. Don’t wait because you don’t see sales like this often from EYMM and it will be over before you know it!

EYMM Womens Four Seasons Cardigan

First up the Four Seasons Cardigan! This pattern comes in cardigan and duster length. I choose the hood option, because I love a hood and this is a big cozy hood.

I made no alterations to make it maternity. This knit will be great for cool weather and is very soft, but it’s also pretty thin. To avoid rolling messy hems I followed the instructions for clean finishing the cardigan without hems.

Another great benefit of this cardigan, because of the draping it’s a built in nursing cover. I have more than one little person at home, which means we leave the house and do stuff. I also had one baby who refused to take a bottle EVER. We build them stubborn and strong willed like that. I’m totally at peace nursing in public, but I do like to be covered. This is will be such a handy layer I won’t have to whip out an extra cover.

I also made up a Dolman top out of a gold knit I’ve had on a shelf forever. At some point you just have to cut into the gold knit.

I used Kymy’s Dolman top maternity/tunic view. When I made this version I left off the ruching thinking it would transition more smoothly to a tunic post bump. After wearing it a few times I think it will fit belly better with the ruching, and that can be easily pulled after if I decide to.

My first dolman is also getting a lot of wear still!

These dolmans were both super fast sews. I adjusted the shoulder on my gold top to narrow in the boat neck. I’m pretty narrow across the shoulder. Both looks are really great and you can easily achieve an off the shoulder layering piece or a bra strap covering less wide neck with the same pattern and a tiny adjustment provided in the instructions.

Would love to win any of these awesome patterns. I’m doing a lot of sewing for my expecting DIL and the dolman would be a perfect addition to her wardrobe.

I love the cardigan. I have two short sleeved ones with that front draping style and they look good, so now I can make a long sleeved one for fall outfits.

The more I see the dolman made up, the more I like that pattern. I also love your version of the 4 season cardigan. I am also in love with the calla lily skirt and the assymetrical hoodie. I may have to buy them all with this great sale!

  • Claire Ross July 31, 2015, 12:24 pm

I think I would pick the women’s capsule skirt.

You look adorable as a pregnant lady! I never felt that way during my two pregnancies (and no one told me that either)! the Dolman sleeve patterns are so versatile and I’m sure you’ll enjoy them again post-pregnancy! That is the pattern I’d choose for myself.

  • Michelle Smith August 3, 2015, 6:34 pm
