Baby bonnets continue! I have had a small amount of fake fur left over from some trapper hats I made a winter or so back that I couldn’t part with. With spring snow falling I found just the perfect way to use up my left over fuzzy fabric, a new spring hat!
The inner layer is my faux fur and the exterior is left over denim from my Kendalls!
The bonnet is a quick sew up. I’ve been rather addicted to sewing hats lately. They are fast, and obviously great stash busters. I will say a woven cap shaped like this takes a little more finesse then the knit pixie hat. Once you’ve made a few hats or hoods like this you get a good feel of how everything fits and lays together.
Extra bonus on these baby hats? Matching doll hats! I appreciate that Kate has included a smaller doll hat version. This is great for dressing babies that aren’t American doll sized.
I downsized my binding to keep it more in proportion with baby doll’s head. I made the matching binding for the denim hat, but baby doll’s is straight out of a package. No guilt there! I normally have a huge preference for self made bias, but I don’t think dolly will mind.
I’m not a huge doll clothes sewer, but these hats are so cute we may end up with a bunch of naked dolls in hat….
