Garden Party Patterns, The Maia

Garden Party Patterns See Kate Sew

Have you ever seen a top, been unsure. Tried on the top, been unsure. And a week later found yourself and the top inseparable? It was now you new favorite top? Me too….May I introduce you to the Maia.

See Kate Sew released her Garden Party Patterns this week. It’s a collection of six women’s patterns. I was lucky enough to test two of the six. I’m going to share my Maia with you today. I also tested the Callie, and have never quite so happily worn so much ruffle. Seriously it makes me smile just taking it out of the closet. When you’re done checking out this post hop over and see the whole collection.

The top closes at the back with an invisible zipper. It’s not scary. I promise. You can do it.

The style is different than what I normally wear, but it’s super comfortable while making me feel like I made an effort to get dressed and look put together. As someone who spends most days with preschoolers it’s a great combination.

I’m planning my second one out of a mustard-ish linen I have on hand. My plan is to do the second without a collar for a little different look. and I don’t think I have enough fabric to make it with the collar….

The neckline is finished with bias tape. It’s really a nice technique. I really am not a fan of facings, and ugly finishing or exposed seams on a neckline can really put me off. I feel like this has a very nice professional finish. It makes me more comfortable wearing it out and about and shifting around picking up and putting down kids, and whatever else I happen to be hauling around that day. No worries an ugly seam will show itself every time I move my head. Whose got the time!

Make sure to check out all of the patterns, and stayed tuned for a Callie post.

Happy Sewing,

This is lovely. Such a curious pattern. With the collar and empire line hem and gathered skirt it would have the potential to look really maternity blousy or even frumpy, but absolutely not here! I like the print you’ve chosen and adore the colours. Bravo!

Love this top, Rachel, both the style and the patterned fabric!!! The collar makes it a little more dressy.
