Summer is heading our way. The trees have gone green and the days warmed up. What better way to celebrate than summer dresses. Something bright and fun.

When the One Thimble Issue 19 was previewed I couldn’t resist the Playtime dress pattern. And easy swing knit dress with a great pocket detail.

I think this is their first set of matching dresses I’ve made. It will probably be the only time I managed to have them both in them at the same time. Good news there are pictures!
I made the large circle pockets in an accent fabric on the littlest and in a coordinating on big sister.

The big pockets make a perfect place to store all the summer treasures. The pockets are really 90 percent of the dress construction. So if you are doing the simple version with no pockets we’re talking about a really quick sew.

Have I mentioned Dixie, Dixie the chicken?

He’s also included in the One Thimble Issue 19. My kids go nuts for home sewn stuffies so I couldn’t really pass one up this cute.

His hat comes with a pattern for little aviator goggles too. We stuck to his little hat.

I went with a curly fur over the straight fur, less trimming. The girls were obsessed. Really he’s adorable. I can’t hardly blame them.

Dixie the chick was definitely an intermediate sew. But I’m happy with the end result. And so are my dress twirlers.
