Skorts are kind of a great busy summer solution. They are comfortable, cute, and hey- practical. Recently I sewed up the maternity version of the new Adventure Skort from 5 out of 4 patterns. (affiliate)The pattern is both for the non-bump crowd. Best of both worlds.
The pattern comes with a number of options including 3 inseam lengths on the shorts and two skirt lengths. I’m sporting the shorter length.
Yep shorts under there! I sewed these up out of my clearance Target jersey sheet stash- so yes they are like NEON yellow, and crazy comfortable. The shorter length is, pretty short. They would make an awesome swim skort.
The front wraps. I’m planning on making one or two at the regular skirt length for chasing kids around this summer. It went together really quite fast, the most brain twisting that happened was making sure I was lapping everything over the correct direction. Which is more a matter of me actually paying attention to what I’m doing than anything else.
The skort features a yoga type waist band. The maternity version snugs under the belly.
I’m a little the odd duck out who kind of likes the full tummy panels on maternity clothes, but in the heat of the summer, the lower band is always the way to go!
