Secret Garden Dress

secret garden dressToday we are showing you our version of the Secret Garden Dress.   Rachel requested a special dress that M could wear for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday.  What a perfect solution.  Because M is tall and lean, I made a size 3 with added length.  That is working well for us and we felt it would give us plenty of wiggle room to last through the winter holiday season.

This dress is beautifully designed and the back flounce makes it one of a kind.  It’s construction is a little more complicated, so  carefully read and follow the directions.  Everything about it appeals to the girlyness in M.  M has also decided that she likes sweaters, which is good because it will be cold by Thanksgiving and this dress is sleeveless.

The pattern allows for you to be as creative or conservative as you want with your fabric choices.  I have enjoyed seeing how each person that sews this dress makes it their own.

We chose a solid cranberry fabric for the main dress and a soft plaid for the contrast.  The even better part is that both fabrics were on the mega clearance table!

The fabrics are both rather soft and probably lessen the effect of the flounce, but I know M will love the dress and wear it happily.  I must admit I was a little worried that the cranberry color would run, but no bleeding during the pre-wash.  These fabrics washed up well, which in our world is also important, because after the holiday I am sure this dress will make it into the regular rotation.secret garden dress

The skirt is full and allows for plenty of spin.  You can get your pattern HERE.  You can use the code “SGTOUR25” to save 25%. Be sure you visit the other blogs and see how each turned this lovely pattern into their own creation.

Beautiful dress! I was wondering how this dress would look in fabric other than quilting cottons, so glad to see your version! You ladies sold me a pattern again 😉 I love your fabric choice. I think I need to copy that peeked plaid look!

I would love to make the Secret Garden Dress for my granddaughter! It is beautiful! Her mommy is pretty particular about what she wears and I know she would love to see this dress on little Winnie! The link, however, doesn’t work. Is there another way I can get this pattern? Thanks so much!

Hi, This is not our pattern. I recommend contacting the designer with questions. However, I do believe this pattern was split into two PDFs one with pieces and one with instructions.

I cannot for the life of me get the bodice turned right side out after sewing the armscyes. Do you have any tips for me? Thank you.
